Just look at this. It's at TV Norge in Oslo, Norway. July 2000, system under
construction. Broadcast wiring done the way it should be done.
This is Kevin Bowers, again at TV Norge in Oslo. A great wireman, one of
the best.
TV Norge again. This is Rob Veall, very clever guy with endless patience.
However even Rob reached for the large hammer when the dreaded Isara gave yet
another problem.
At TV Norge there was a hmmm .... little miscalculation in assessing the access
to the station. This resulted in all of us (including Kjell Nordli the TVNorge
chief engineer) having to convey the monitor stack centre section all the way
through a shopping Mall. The smiling guy in the foreground is Steve Sherriff who
runs SAS Systems - a UK based wiring installation company whose quality of work
is second to none.
Well this is me in the Drake Electronics factory in Welwyn Garden City back in
late 1996. I'm leaning against a small part of the huge network control and
monitoring system for Telepiu in Milan, Italy not long before shipping out was
to take place.
This one truly belongs in the broadcast systems chamber of horrors. It's a small
snapshot into one project that I had to fix. This is the unholy mess of a
multi-format transfer area at the beginning of the real sort-out. Just look at
the state of that wiring under the floor, the bemused looking guy is Karl
Bracken. I enjoyed working with Karl, a most patient and reliable engineer,
between us we plodded on getting this area eventually into an acceptable and
functional state.
